Custom iCake

So...remember how I mentioned earlier how this year was packed full of awesome birthdays?? Well, the first one was my brother-in-law's and it. was. crazy! :D (at least...I enjoyed it) -.-

I just ran across the pics of the cake we made him and I just had to share. My brother-in-law is so awesome and has been such a great friend to me since I joined the family. Since last year I threw my sis-in-law a party for her birthday, this year I knew it was his turn. :) I found this idea on Pinterest and was immediately inspired to make this with my sis-in-law for his birthday! It was a lot of work and took a little bit of sneakiness, but we are just that awesome and it turned out pretty fine! :D Since it was my first huge cake, there's definitely room for improvement, but it was so much fun and that's the main point, right?? :D And a huge shout-out to my sis-in-law, Roshel, who's over at The Dream Team Closet - I couldn't have done it without her. (sorry there's no pic of both of us...that's what happens when SP's in charge of taking the pics, sis!) ;)

And speaking of birthdays...today just so happens to be my husband's birthday! X-} Since we're not home, I can't bake him anything today so I ran down to the little Greek bakery he likes and bought him some yummy surprises! I may have to try to recreate them once I get home though cuz they're super cute and would be perfect to serve for dessert when I host my next dinner party. :) Anyways, nobody could be more excited to celebrate with him than I am! I'm crazy about this man, you guys! He's my best friend and I love him like crazy! So of course he'll be getting a super awesome birthday party when we get back home - but tonight we're going to hunt down the Dominoes that's tucked away on a little street in downtown Chania! (I haven't had Dominoes since I was a little girl so we'll see...but it'll be a nice taste of the US for us anyways!) :D

Have a very Happy Day!

Kitchen Schemes

Hiiii folks! So my mom and I have been promising each other we'll update our blogs more often so we can keep in touch (sorry FB, but you're just not cutting it anymore..) But our problem is that we're just too busy living life to sit down and write about it! Ok, well, I guess that's not altogether a bad thing. ;) But I did promise her I'll update more so hopefully I'll keep to that. (no promises though!) ;)

My hubs had work travel come up for this summer and since it was gonna be longer than usual he decided I should come with him! So we're in Greece right now and totally loving it! Oh my stars, this place is incredible! It's been super hot but if you know me I'm totally loving every minute of it! We're in a great little hotel which is decked out with the best pool and our apt has the cutest little kitchenette. Bad thing: the kitchenette only has one electric burner and a tiny little microwave. >.< So probably the main thing I've been missing while over here in this awesome dessert/tropic country....is my kitchen. Is that the weirdest thing or what?!? Of course I'm still stock-piling my recipes, so by the time I get back I'm gonna be going crazy in my kitchen making all sorts of awesomeness happen! Until then, I guess I'll just have to suffer through fresh authentic Greek salads, lamb on the spit, moussaka, and stuffed pork with fresh potatoes. ::sigh:: I'm so kidding. X-} This is by far the most amazing summer ever and I'm loving every last second I get to spend with my awesome husband! You just can't beat traveling all over the place and going on crazy adventures with your best friend. ♥

Me and my hubs ♥

Anyways....back to the food part. I do have some super amazing recipes to share and I can't wait to post them! The funnest part is that my hubs is totally on board and even helping with the experiments!! XD Let me tell you - I am so stoked! Don't let the geeky facade fool you guys, my engineer knows his taste buds pri-tee fine! We've got a whole list of recipes we started working on earlier this year and it's gonna be so fun!

And in case you get the idea that I'm totally brilliant all on my own (which I am, so you're right..) -.- I'll let you in on the gist of this brilliance. You know how some recipes sound super yummy, but they end up a little awkward, messy, too difficult to make {or eat}, or just too much like those other 15 casseroles that showed up at the last neighborhood BBQ? We've all seen the same recipes pinned over and over on Pinterest. While most of them are good (even great!) sometimes there's an even better idea for those sneaky little ingredients! So I'm taking the ones I've tried and I'm changing it up a little! :D

(Of course, I'll also be linking these recipes to the original blogs where they were found because these girls {and guys} are crazy awesome and you should totally check out their blogs asap!)

Here's to more cooking and happy housewifery!
Have a Happy Day! ♥
